What an honor; truly and honor.

What an honor; truly and honor.

The Cystic Fibrosis  Guild has been raising money to find a cure for 30 years. Today at Pier 66 they showed their gratitude to the members as well as the flowers provided for their events. Steven L. Turner was named their " Citizen of the Year," and he was gushing with gratitude. Grateful to be apart of and grateful for a strong team that helped get him to where he stands today. The foundation had a guest speaker from Peru who works on many trials to find options and cures for patients. Dr. Maria Tupayachi-Ortiz shared at the luncheon how she and other physicians are working with Duke University and making huge leaps that are amazing and exciting the patients about the future of this disease. The compassion that showed in her speaking, the tears the ladies tried to hold back when sharing about how far they had come, really grabbed my attention. This wasn't just a luncheon to say hi, eat and go. It was a true celebration of what can be done when people don't just sit by but actually take action and do something about a situation. Being in a room filled with people that knew they had a plan and a purpose and a joint interest in Cystic Fibrosis and also human kind was exactly the spark of hope I needed to see in a world that shines light on the opposite so often.
