The Lotus is a symbol of so many things for so many cultures. The most popular are rebirth and unwavering faith. This uniquely beautiful flower grows in the darkest and muddiest of places but you wouldn't know it by the way it's waxy petals shake off the environment and bloom and close without hesitation. The flower was created to be resilient and can go thousands; yes, thousands of years with out water. Who knew?! The Lotus comes in a variety of colors and can be found all over the world.
I once had a friend who called me a lotus and I now know what she meant by that. I have continued to bloom in my life, to return to my original form of beauty even after all life had thrown my way. I am sure I am not the only lotus out there. So many people choose to face life again and again no matter how many times they get knocked down and some do it with a heart bigger than they had before. To me that is what the lotus represents. The ability to let life and all that comes with it slide right off and to keep on shining bright...maybe even brighter than before.
