Next to Valentine's Day this is the busiest day of the year for us. It was also exactly a year ago that I started working at Victoria Park Flower Studio. The only memory I have of it was all the amazing home made food Steven brought. This year the memories are so much more. There was the design cooler that was packed to the brim with pre made arrangements; unfortunately no one was really thinking of pinks and purples but were leaning more towards yellows and whites. Lesson learned. Then the peonies craze! Goodness; this flower was created for Mother's Day and it seemed like everyone knew it. Then there is the rose special that worked like a canvas for customer to design their own wrapped bouquets for mom. Watching our customers get creative with flowers is such a treat. We had a special visit from Dr. Cook of JJ Dental, Noodles was on his best behavior, and the menu for the week had everything from sausage and peppers to pulled pork with cole slaw. To me the best part of this Mother's Day was the team work. No pointing fingers, no over thinking. We all went with the flow and accepted mistakes as learning lesson and victories as blessings. We were short one person in the sales office and by some miracle didn't skip a beat in our customer service and quality standards. We brought in some amazing drivers to help with the rush and we all worked together to understand, get it done and laugh when that was all we could do.
