"As you grow older you will see you have two hands. One for helping yourself, the other for helping others." - Audrey Hepburn.
For a solid week we were without Steven. We came together as a team and tried to fill his very experienced shoes and keep the shop on track. Why this need to wear multiple hats in his absence? Well, Steven visits his sponsored son as often as he can and he took a trip to Honduras to give back and to catch up with these amazing children. Steven works with AHLE to create new opportunities and to give hope to these children that come from unimaginable circumstances. Steven used the word "Gut-wrenching" when talking about two boys who say their mother murdered by their father while behind the wheel of a car. Once the father realized what he did and that his boys witnessed it; he pulled the gun on himself and took his own life; leaving the boys in a moving car with no one in control. When Steven arrived in Honduras he was greeted by very excited children who knew him well but one boy stood out from the crowd. The oldest boy of the accident and Steven knew right away; not his story but his need to know he was safe, that people do care and he will heal. Just like a stray dog that was brought into the shelter years past and has shown so much improvement since her days on the street. This little boy will be brought back to health mentally, emotionally and spiritually; with the help of the AHLE foundation and other children around him to show him; love is real.
